Book Character Parade

From the babies in our Early Learning Centre to the young learners in Year 6, our Primary School was out in full force this morning for our Book Character Parade. This parade launches an exciting week of events that focus on the celebration of quality children’s literature and the importance of reading in the lives of our students. These events include the book fair, library displays and Escape the Library puzzle challenge. Special guests including @BrianDoyle (cartoonist), @CoriBrooke (author), Christine Bongers – AuthorBooks by Chrissy Byers and Dimity Powell Author will educate and entertain our students in the skills of being creative.

With the 2017 theme “Escape to Everywhere!” our children connected to a book character that provided an escape for them, and dressed up as that character. With a parade stretching from the Gilmour lawns, travelling via the path outside Prep playground and around past Kindy and arriving in the ARC, our students, staff and parents celebrated the amazing characters of children’s literature.

Each year across Australia, The Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.
