We wish to congratulate our 2018 Year Twelve students on their exit results, which were released on Saturday.
This year, John Paul College had a total of 186 Year Twelve students. Of these, 64.5% were OP eligible and 28.5% of all students received a VET qualification. Therefore, some of our graduates have achieved both an OP score and an additional qualification.
Queensland Certificate of Education
126 Year Twelve students were domestic students and of these, 94% received a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and/or a VET qualification to date. Our graduating cohort included 60 Visa students, 85% of these (i.e. 52 of the 60) received a QCE or VET qualification.
An OP score, used for tertiary education admission, reflects a student’s position in the group of OP eligible students throughout Queensland. There are 25 OP scores, ranging from an OP 1, which is the highest to an OP 25.
When discussing OP eligible students, only Domestic students are considered OP eligible, with Visa students considered to be eligible for an OP equivalent score. Visa student data is not included in the QCAA reporting data.
The results for John Paul College OP eligible students are:
The students were well prepared and committed to their education and we congratulate them on their application to their studies while at John Paul College.
I would like to congratulate the 5 students who received the top score of OP1, which represents 4.82% of our OP eligible Year Twelve cohort (compared to the state average of 2.83%).
Queensland Core Skills Test Results (2018)
I also congratulate the 2018 Year Twelve cohort on their Queensland Core Skills Test performance, with 48.19% of OP eligible participants being awarded an A or a B. Further to this, I would like to recognise the work of our senior leaders and their persistent focus on motivating their cohort so that 19.3% of our OP eligible students achieved an A result, compared to 16.6% of OP eligible students across the state achieving at this level.
John Paul College is an academically non-selective school, which offers our diverse community of students a holistic education and a range of pathways to both tertiary study and other career paths. We are committed to personalising each student’s learning journey, and to helping them discover their passions and strengths.
In 2018, 16 students completed a Certificate III, Certificate IV and a Diploma of Business as part of their Senior Education and Training program and an additional 10 students completed a Diploma of Business with Barrington College. Our VET program continues to provide excellent outcomes for many students with a total of 73 Certificates I, II or III awarded to our graduating seniors.
In total, 14% of the 2018 Year Twelve cohort attained a Diploma qualification, which will give them a selection rank equivalent to an overall position of 8 or 9, depending on the institution.
