#Bullying No Way @ JPC Friday 17th March 2017 News and Events News Item

Today is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence and our Middle School Wellbeing Committee wanted to encourage all Middle School students to make a stand against bullying. Tina, a Year 9 student and leader of the Wellbeing Committee, addressed the students about taking action against bullying and the responsibility that we all have in preventing bullying within our community.

On January 26, 1982, our Foundation Principal, Mr Cec Munns, stood at a makeshift podium in front of the solitary building that made up the John Paul College facilities. After battling endless bureaucracy, obstacles and naysayers, The Founding Fathers from the Catholic, Anglican and Uniting Churches would not be defeated and the College opened to 144 students with just four classrooms, a small brick typing room and the use of Uniting Church hall at the end of Chatswood Road, and the loan of a caravan used as a Tuckshop.

On Thursday, digital journalist and adventurer, Ben Southall (well known for winning Tourism Queensland‘s ‘Best Job in the World’) visited our Year 4 students to talk about role models. Ben’s role models include his dad, wife, Captain Cook and David Attenborough.


Cuddles aplenty at Teddy Bears’ Picnic Friday 24th February 2017 News and Events News Item

Some were quite petite, while others were almost bigger than their owners. Many showed signs of having enjoyed way too many cuddles. There was no denying the love for their special furry friends when our Prep students invited their favourite teddy bear to school for the annual and much-loved Teddy Bears’ Picnic today.

On Friday, our In2Cricket participants hosted Brisbane Heat, Queensland Bulls and Australian cricketer, Chris Lynn (known as ‘Lynnsanity’ for his epic hitting ability) on Stephen Bowers Oval. Chris spent time with our youngest cricket players and was a huge hit (pardon the pun) with the kids.
