Promoting athlete performance and participation

The JPC Sport Academy Program is a free, inclusive focused training program available to students in Years Four -Twelve aimed at developing skills in Basketball, Cricket, Netball and Volleyball.

Led by our specialist Head Coaches, the year-round program is designed to support and complement our TAS and Junior TAS programs, while encouraging the development of holistic skills and best performance from all athletes. Students of all abilities and experience levels are invited to participate in this program, with sessions offered in a variety of developmental tiers including Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior.

The Academy program aims to build sequential, fundamental skills, with key elements including:

  • Technical ability and skill acquisition sessions
  • Tactical knowledge and execution
  • Sports-specific strength and conditioning program (agility, plyometrics and core strength)
  • Regular fitness testing.

Our High Performance Co-ordinator plays a crucial role in athlete development, working with our Academy students and Head Coaches to embed core strength and fitness principles, and conducting testing at set intervals throughout the year. All Academy students receive individual progress reports to track and support their development.

These programs will prepare athletes for their progression through school and representative sporting pathways, with an emphasis on the advancement of skills, physicality and game sense. We aspire to create resilient and mentally strong athletes with a focus on holistic development and a commitment to participation and excellence.
