Foundation Sport
Foundation Sport is offered to students in Years 1, 2 and 3. The main objective of the program is to develop the necessary core physical literacy of our students within a model that encourages lifelong participation in physical activity.
Twelve sports are offered in this 24 week program with the aim of providing students with a taste of these sports which can then be experienced further. Boys and girls are exposed to all sports to maximise athletic growth and development and many skills are transferable from one sport to another.
The sports on offer include athletics, cricket, AFL, touch football, netball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, hockey, football (soccer), rugby and tee-ball.
Through these sports, using fun games and activities, students can expect to develop speed, power, and endurance. They are also introduced to simple rules and fair play. Participation in the program aids in developing agility, balance, coordination and speed as well as the ability to run, throw, jump, catch, kick and strike with an implement.
Foundation Sports in considered paramount to the sporting future of a child, embedding much needed skills.
