Co-curricular Activities
The benefits of co-curricular activities in schools have been extensively researched and it has been found that students who participate in these activities develop higher academic results, better relationships at school and are more likely to lead healthy, active lifestyles when they leave school.
At JPC, we offer several programs that aid local charities and support groups, as well as academic and sporting extra-curricular activities that do not form part of our JPC co-curricular programs.
I am so grateful that John Paul College has so many opportunities like Community Care for students like myself to reach out and make a positive impact on our community. Community Care allows students of all ages to be able to connect and make a positive impact on others who are less fortunate. Volunteering has always been a part of my JPC journey helping me gain a variety of experiences from organising fundraisers to aiding elderly residents. Community Care is not only a co-curricular but an opportunity that will aid you in life skills for the future. I encourage all students to join the Community Care Team to take up this uplifting opportunity. This co-curricular is open to students of all abilities and ages because each one of us can make a difference. Together we make a change.

Art Clubs
Complementing our curriculum, students explore their creativity through visual arts with a focus on design skills, drawing skills or developing digital art pieces. Secondary School Art Club sessions are held one afternoon each week each term.
Community Care
JPC Community Care is a co-curricular activity dedicated to serving and caring for the community. Students have opportunities to participate in various activities, fundraise for chosen charities, and work with students in different grades to put forward their ideas and opinions for helping others.
JPC Community Care has been successful in completing a range of activities and has raised a significant amount for individual charities.
These activities have included helping young students who struggle with English at Homework Clubs, organising and participating in World Vision’s 40-hour famine, spending time on the street helping the hungry and lonely people around Woodridge through ‘Rosies’, assisting with Operation Christmas Child in sending shoeboxes to the underprivileged overseas, co-ordinating fund-raising for SIDS and Kids, and raising funds for the Kingston East Neighbourhood Group which puts school packs together for needy families and more.
JPC Community Care provides young people with the satisfaction that comes with helping people who are much less fortunate than we are.
JPCrew
JPC Community Care is a co-curricular activity dedicated to serving and caring for the community. Students have opportunities to participate in various activities, fundraise for chosen charities, and work with students in different grades to put forward their ideas and opinions for helping others.
Students in JPCrew undertake production and audio training for a range of College events across the campus. These events include assemblies, year level meetings, chapel services, functions, live performances, meetings, sporting events and concerts.
Debating
JPC has an outstanding Debating Program designed to engage students in thoughtful preparation, insightful argument creation and witty rebuttal to further hone their craft.
This is a full-year co-curricular activity with our teams from Years Six to Twelve involved in the Circuit Debating Competition which includes six debates throughout the year at venues including John Paul College, Corinda State High School, St Paul's School and Canterbury College.
Students who wish to participate in debating should be able to write their own speeches and enjoy speaking in front of an audience.
Young Designers
This activity adds to the holistic needs of all students, as it provides another dimension alongside the sporting and performance activities. JPC Young Designers allows students to achieve creative excellence in a design format. The development of creative problem-solving skills and abilities are crucial to contemporary education. Design experiences allow students to learn to recognise how values and beliefs shape culture. The ability to interpret different design cultures enables students to shape their own personal and cultural identity.
This activity involves students working collaboratively and individually to design and create a range of solutions to benefit the school, the campus, the environment or even just themselves. Involvement in the JPC Young Designers teaches students that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer. This activity celebrates multiple perspectives and different ways to see and interpret the world. Students experience the benefits of working collaboratively in a team and making a positive change to the school environment. The design activities range from short-term commitments, to larger projects that run over a longer period of time.
