Sport achievement at JPC is a mixture of passion, dedication and exceptional support.

Sport plays an integral role in a holistic John Paul College education, and promotes important values such as teamwork, commitment and perseverance.

Our extensive and diverse sporting programs have a proud and long history of success and contribution to the TAS competition. We offer all students the opportunity to participate, and those with aspirations for further success are encouraged and supported to pursue representative sporting pathways to realise their dreams.

With one of Australia's most comprehensive sporting programs, all students have the chance to engage and excel in sport. We understand that reaching peak performance depends on many factors – talent, training, persistence, confidence and, above all, opportunity.

At JPC, all students have access to our sporting co-ordinators and coaches, from beginners discovering new skills to elite athletes receiving high-level coaching in preparation for competition.

Club Sports

The College offers several club sport opportunities to complement and support our TAS sporting program, including basketball, cricket, football, and netball. Should club sport be offered by the College, students are encouraged to represent the college in that competition. Students who play club sport for John Paul College or teams other than JPC are expected to also play in the TAS competitions.

Representative School Sport
JPC students are encouraged to trial for school-based representative sports through the School Sports Australia pathway. Our College is part of the Logan District and Metropolitan East Regional areas. Successful students progress through representative pathways, culminating in selection in a Queensland School Sport team to compete at the Australian School Sports Championships.

Metropolitan East Region

Selected JPC students from the Logan District trials/carnivals progress on to the Metropolitan East Regional trials. The final pathway is selection in Queensland school sports teams to compete at the Australian Schools Championships.

Esports

Esports teams participate in multi-player video game competitions across a variety of games and competition formats. Current games include Mario Kart, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Overwatch and League of Legends. Students attend a weekly squad training session, from which teams are developed to participate in specific competitions, including the QUT High School Esports League and the ACER Cup. All students are welcome to join the co-curricular; however, some games (i.e. Overwatch and League of Legends) are restricted to students in Year Nine and above, and require parental consent to participate if the student is under 15 years of age.
