Today with around 1,600 students, the College has flourished into a substantial and impressive school. But while the grounds – and the way education is delivered within them – may have changed greatly over the years, the key values of mutual respect, integrity, compassion and excellence have remained steadfast. On Friday, 5 August, finally, after several COVID-related delays, the College community came together to celebrate our 40th Anniversary Foundation Day, and what a day it was!

We also heard from Board Chair Mr Dominic Taylor, Past Board Chair Mr Dan Gorman and Principal Mrs Karen Spiller OAM CF. All of them spoke about the history of the College’s foundation and the immeasurable contribution of our volunteers. Founding Principal Mr Cec Munns AM sent a message which noted the unwavering support of the small band of people from the seed of an idea to the fruition of the dream – a brand new Christian Ecumenical College for Daisy Hill and the Logan region. In particular, Mr Munns praised the contribution of Mr Don Cameron: And, today, as we gather to celebrate 40 years of educational excellence, I feel it appropriate to give some additional recognition to the significant role played by Don Cameron, the local Federal Member of Parliament, in allowing our school to flourish as it did in its Foundation year - and in subsequent years.
It is true to say that, without Don Cameron’s political support, we may have commenced on Australia Day 1982, but we may have found it very difficult to see out the 1982 school year; and to go on to make such a mark on the educational landscape of Logan, Brisbane, Queensland and Australia.
As we celebrate our past, we also look to our future with great excitement and security in the knowledge that we are building that future on very sound foundations.
