What an incredible start to Term 3 at John Paul College! Term 3 has been bustling with exciting milestones and rewarding times at the College. It is wonderful to witness the energy and passion that our students, staff and parents bring to our College on a day-to-day basis. Reflecting on the broad variety of activities and events held at the College over the last month, what has stood out has been the strong sense of community and connection.
Research consistently highlights the importance of belonging and feeling connected, this supports our students to thrive, and correlates closely with improved academic and wellbeing outcomes. Feeling that they belong, are supported yet challenged, are held accountable, are trusted, and respected for whom they are, encourages young people to engage in deep learning, perform strongly during their years at school and develop a strong sense of self.
Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Jukambi Sports Precinct
Earlier this term, I had the privilege to be part of a momentous occasion in JPC’s history - the groundbreaking ceremony for our Jukambi Sports Precinct. As we turned the soil and lay the foundation for this remarkable sporting excellence hub, we would like to thank all of our parents, both past and present, as well as the dedicated staff members who have contributed to the realisation of this sporting precinct.
This new sports facility represents a significant milestone in our journey towards holistic education. We understand the importance of our co-curricular programs and physical education and the role it plays in shaping the overall development of our students. We believe that a healthy body nurtures a healthy mind, and this facility will provide our students with a platform to excel in their athletic pursuits while fostering their mental and physical wellbeing. We would like to extend our thanks to the JPC staff and community members who have been involved in this wonderful project. Come along and support our new café!
SOAR 4
We were privileged to host nine of the 15 featured Alumni and their proud parents, family and friends at Queensland Ballet's Kite Terrace for the launch of the fourth edition of Soar. The magazine tells the inspiring stories of an amazing group of men and women spanning four graduating decades across a diverse range of industries and professions. The launch event was a great success with familiar faces both past and present, coming together to celebrate not only the College but our outstanding calibre of Alumni. Our Alumni’s incredible journeys serve as a source of inspiration for current and future JPC students. Read the digital version of Soar Edition 4 here.
