Welcome to 2023!
I hope you enjoyed a relaxing Christmas break with your family and friends, having found time to refresh mentally and spiritually for the year ahead. I am delighted to welcome all College community members (both current and future) to a new school year and trust that the year ahead will be a time of great learning and personal growth.
I am honoured and elated to start my journey as the sixth Principal of John Paul College. I am excited by the opportunity to meet you and your child/ren, and I look forward to building a strong relationship with all future families throughout the year.
A new year always brings a wonderful opportunity for a fresh start. This fresh start provides new subjects, new timetables, new classrooms, new teachers and new friends. As we consider the start of the year, I would like to share with you my three wishes for all members of our College community for this year. I wish for you to:
• Give up on your feelings of frustration but never your hopes
• Give up thinking about your setbacks and failures but never your goals
• Give up worrying about your past but never about your future.
I encourage all members of our College community to seize the opportunity a new year provides. To start the term with a positive mindset and a sense of determination. Leave behind what happened last year and take the time to set new goals. Plan what you wish to achieve this year and how you wish to go about doing so. For our students, listen to your teachers when they tell you what to do. But more importantly, think about it later and ask yourself why they told you to do it.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family at our College Open Events as we work together to help our young people be the best they can be.
