May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. — Romans 15:13
As we approach the end of the year, we are reminded of the spirit of hope, joy and peace that fills our community during this festive season. It is fitting that I share the above Bible verse with you as we reflect on the achievements, remarkable milestones and connections made this year. What a wonderful year 2024 has been!
To recap some of the highlights:
Jukambi Sports Precinct officially opened on 25 October. It is truly delightful to see the students using this world-class facility. Next year, we will see how it is used to its full potential; I am sure that everyone can see what an incredible asset this facility is for JPC, for both our academic and co-curricular programs.
The new Strategic Plan: Ignite ambition, was launched at our annual Speech Night in October. This bold, aspirational framework will guide us to 2032 through three three-year horizons. I hope you are as excited by its bold strategic goals as the Executive and Board are. The future is looking bright!
I am also proudly looking forward to the commencement of our newest infrastructure project, Burragunn. This facility will replace the Boomerang building. This innovative project will create a dynamic and creative learning environment to cater to our students' needs and aspirations, preparing them to thrive in a complex global environment.
2024 has been a remarkable year of success and growth for our TAS teams. With a record number of teams competing in the TAS and Shield competitions, our JPC Eagles achieved an impressive eight TAS premierships in Trimester 1, seven in Trimester 2, and three in Trimester 3. This success, along with multiple age group victories in TAS swimming, cross country and athletics, and strong overall podium finishes across two trimesters, propelled JPC to finish third in the TAS Champion School points for 2024. Additionally, we proudly retained the TAS Champion Boys' Tennis School title for the second consecutive year. GO EAGLES!
I have been in awe of the talented students in our Performing Arts co-curricular program, particularly during the inaugural informances, Rock Fest, Wintertide, Chamber Concert and Spring Arts Festival. Our students' talents indeed know no bounds, and we have an exceptional staff supporting our students.
Casting forward, I am very excited to see the next College musical, Fame The Musical!
Reflecting on our College Chaplain, Mr Gore, address at the Valedictory Service, I am particularly drawn to the message that a single feather is not enough for an eagle to soar. It takes many feathers and a mighty wind to lift and let the eagle soar. We can truly soar when we come together with one purpose and God's support. Mr Gore's message encapsulates the unity of our College.
Thank you for supporting John Paul College, from Discovery Tours to Open Events. We hope that we can continue to showcase what makes our College so unique and why so many choose to send their children to JPC.
In the spirit of the festive season, I would also like to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family. May this time be filled with joy, peace and cherished moments with your loved ones.
We look forward to seeing you at our Discovery Tours and Open Events in 2025.
Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and a prosperous new year!
