We hope you and your family are safe and well amid the recent severe weather event across Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales. As we return to campus this week after the challenges of recent severe weather, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of our John Paul College community. The severe weather may have tested us, but it has also revealed something far more powerful: our ability to support, uplift and care for one another in times of need.
For some, the effects of these storms continue to be felt, and our thoughts and prayers are with those still navigating difficulties.
In times like these, we are reminded of the words in Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfil the law of Christ." Acts of kindness, compassion and generosity embody our College values of Mutual Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence. Whether it is a simple gesture of checking in on a friend, offering assistance to a neighbour, or extending grace and understanding, each of us has the power to make a difference.
A heartfelt thank you to our operations team for ensuring the College was cyclone-ready and getting the campus back up for safe operations this week. Thank you to all our staff who worked tirelessly to ensure we could maintain services over the weekend, keep our boarding students safe and occupied, keep our community well-informed, and ensure we were open this week.
We must embrace the spirit of connection and unity in times like these. May we continue to support one another, not just in times of hardship but in all aspects of our daily lives. Together, we will move forward with hope, strength, and renewed gratitude for the community we are blessed to be a part of.
