Welcome to the start of Term 4! I hope you had a chance to take time to relax with family and friends over the Spring break. As we enter this final term of the academic year, it is a great opportunity for students to continue building on the progress they have made. The final stretch comes with the poignant reminder of the power of resilience — the ability to bounce back from challenges and keep moving forward. Resilience, combined with perseverance, is the key to not only surviving the final term but thriving as we approach the finish line.
I am reminded of the important lesson we can learn from Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and the Hare. The hare, fast and confident, underestimated the steady, persistent tortoise. Despite a slow start, the tortoise's resilience and steady pace led him to victory. Similarly, resilience — the ability to keep going despite setbacks — is key to finishing strong.
Like the tortoise, students may face challenges in this final term, from exams to assignments. But those who stay focused and keep pushing forward will achieve their goals. To manage stress, break tasks into smaller steps, use planners to stay organised, and remember to reach out for support when needed.
Just as the tortoise didn't stop, we can't allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by challenges. Mindfulness and self-care, like getting enough rest and maintaining a positive mindset, help students persevere.
The journey may seem tough, but resilience, like the tortoise's steady pace, leads to success. As the fable teaches, it's not about how fast you start but how strong you finish. With perseverance, we can all cross the finish line with pride.
I am especially excited for this term, as this time of the year, we get a chance to celebrate students and staff for their diligence and enthusiastic involvement in the broader life of the College. I look forward to our annual Speech Night this month, where we will honour our most successful academic and co-curricular students.
Open Mornings
I want to thank all future families for attending our Open Mornings this week. It was wonderful to have insightful conversations about how JPC is the right choice for your child and family.
I wish you and your family a wonderful Term 4!
