In collaboration with Logan Hyperdome and Uncle Allan Lena, of the Bunjalung and Yuggara Nation, we have partnered alongside Woodridge State School to host a community art project, celebrating the 2023 NAIDOC theme 'For Our Elders'.

This year, NAIDOC Week is celebrated from 2 – 9 July and is an important week to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

In Term 2, we welcomed Uncle Allan Lena onto campus for an insightful incursion presented to a group of JPC students. During the incursion, Uncle Allan Lena shared a Dreamtime story 'Ningroongun and Barrajanda', which ends at the Cougals in the Currumbin Valley. The selected students from Primary and Secondary school drew inspiration from the story to design and make their artwork.

Our talented students created 16 designs of hand-painted artwork for the exhibition now on display at Logan Hyperdome for NAIDOC Week.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on this exhibition and to acknowledge NAIDOC Week. These artworks will be on display until 16 July at Logan Hyperdome, for more information about the exhibition visit https://hyperdomeshopping.qicre.com/
