JOHN PAUL COLLEGE | ANNUAL REPORT | 2024 2 01 Introduction John Paul College (JPC) stands amongst Queensland’s largest independent co-educational schools, providing a seamless learning journey from Early Learning to Year 12. Established in 1982 and built by the community for the community, we remain steadfast in our values, encapsulated in our enduring motto: Unity | Christ | Learning. These principles continue to guide our unwavering commitment to nurturing and educating exceptional individuals, young people who demonstrate courage, integrity and a deep desire to enrich society courageously. Our diverse community comprises 2,105 students from Prep to Year 12, with an additional 102 enrolled in our Early Learning Centre and 132 in Kindergarten. John Paul International College supports 138 students, and our vibrant Boarding Village in 2024 was home to 47 students from around the globe. We exist to develop ethical, creative and serviceoriented thinkers who thrive in an increasingly complex global environment. Guided by our mission to accelerate a dynamic learning community and ignite excellence in all, we offer a contemporary education grounded in traditional values and framed by a future-focused approach. In a world that demands adaptability, compassion and intercultural understanding, our Christian Ecumenical identity invites students from all faiths and backgrounds to learn in an inclusive, respectful environment. This holistic approach prepares students to lead and serve in a multicultural, multifaith global society. Our 33-hectare campus in Daisy Hill, Logan, south of Brisbane, boasts outstanding facilities that inspire academic achievement and personal growth. Our environment supports every aspect of student development, from innovative learning spaces and modern sporting ovals to aquatic centres, airconditioned classrooms, and our highly accredited Outside School Hours Care program. This report reflects a year of stability, strategic progress and community connection, which were made possible through the dedication of our leadership team, staff, students and families. At a time when educational landscapes are rapidly evolving, John Paul College has continued to invest in its future with clear intent, deepening the quality of learning experiences while remaining faithful to its founding vision of Unity | Christ | Learning. As we navigate the complexities of preparing young people for a global future, our focus has remained steadfast: nurturing ethical, creative and service-oriented learners equipped with knowledge and the resilience and compassion to contribute meaningfully to society. Our students have excelled across every dimension of school life, from outstanding Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) achievements and national sporting representation to transformative service learning and artistic expression. These milestones speak to more than just talent; they result from an intentional, whole-of-school approach that places equal value on academic rigour, wellbeing and character formation. I am especially proud of how our staff have embraced professional growth, inclusive practices and innovation in pedagogy. Our ongoing commitment to the SOARING model of Positive Education, the integration of digital tools across all year levels, and our commitment to student wellbeing have laid strong foundations for future-ready graduates. These projects have enhanced the daily experience of our students and staff, while ensuring our facilities evolve to support contemporary learning, sustainability and community wellbeing. Learning and Innovation Environments • Jukambi Sports Precinct The most significant development of the year, the Jukambi Sports Precinct, opened as a landmark facility for high-performance sport and community engagement. It supports our co-curricular and Health and Physical Education programs with cutting-edge amenities while fostering pride and connection. • Junior Secondary School Science Labs Refurbishment Newly designed labs now support hands-on inquiry and STEM exploration, inspiring our young scientists through flexible, future-focused environments. • Gorman Centre Refurbishment Upgraded classrooms and collaborative spaces have revitalised the Gorman Centre, aligning the physical space with innovative and inclusive teaching practices. • Coleman Centre Refurbishment Renovation of the Coleman Centre amenities, kitchen and foyer significantly enhances the standards of these facilities for our community. • Secondary Modulars Purpose-built modular classrooms were introduced to accommodate growth and provide highquality interim learning spaces for our expanding Secondary School cohort. Refinements in Technology and Safety • In 2024, the College made significant strides in strengthening both our cyber and physical security posture. We successfully engaged with a leading security vendor to establish a 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), to monitor, alert and provide incident response for cyber threats. The College completed a third-party penetration test and security assessment with all identified risks addressed, and migrated all year 4-11 student devices to Microsoft Intune, enhancing both security and ease of management. • Staff Microsoft licenses were transitioned from A3 to A5, bringing advanced security capabilities, including anti-phishing, safe attachments, and Defender for Office 365. In turn, through Microsoft’s student use benefits program, these are now also leveraged by students to enhance their online safety and learning experience. • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Identity are now fully deployed across all staff devices, providing early warning signals and feeding telemetry directly into our SOC. In line with this our continued rollout of the Essential Eight cybersecurity framework further strengthens our defensive posture.

JOHN PAUL COLLEGE | ANNUAL REPORT | 2024 15 Facilities and Grounds Improvements • Chatswood and Mayflower Car Park Upgrade This upgrade addresses increased traffic flow and safety and provides enhanced access and convenience for families and visitors. • Markwell Car Park Upgrade and New Shelter The Markwell Car Park also addressed traffic flow concerns while providing a new covered structure offering shade and comfort for students waiting for collection by parents. • Wicks, Busch and Upper Gilmore Synthetic Turf These new surfaces support durable, safe, weather-resistant play and sporting areas across the campus. • Doulin and Enright Room Partitions Flexible partitioning now enables collaborative teaching by allowing classrooms to be opened up and reconfigured, enhancing the versatility of learning spaces and promoting greater interaction between students and educators.. • Staff Boarding Villa A new purpose-built residential facility for staff working in Boarding provides high-quality accommodation designed to attract and retain exceptional carers, while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for both boarders and their mentors.. • Physical security is also a core priority, and the first phase of our Verkada CCTV deployment, developed in consultation with the Deans of Academic Welfare, is now operational, demonstrating our commitment to the safety of everyone on campus. • Operationally, we built and deployed over 200 iPads and 600 laptops, while delivering complete networking, AV, and technology fit-outs across key projects including the Stephen Paul and Doulin Annexe demountables, Apple Music Lab, Applied Design Workshop, Busch, Wicks, Lower Gilmour, Wesley, Crockett 6, Jukambi, Gorman GLAs and Lecture Theatre, Coleman GLAs, the Canteen, and Science labs ST1 and ST2. We intentionally deliver the Australian Curriculum through rich, transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry, offering authentic and engaging contexts that develop deep conceptual understanding. This approach encourages students to learn how to learn, building strong foundations for lifelong learning and global citizenship.

JOHN PAUL COLLEGE | ANNUAL REPORT | 2024 18 09 Distinctive Curriculum Offerings Secondary School: Pathways for Purposeful Futures In Years 7 to 10, students follow the Australian Curriculum, enriched with a broad selection of elective subjects that foster curiosity and allow individual choice. This prepares students to pursue a personalised senior pathway, ATAR-eligible or ATAR-ineligible, beginning in Year 11 and continuing through to Year 12. Most of our students opt for the QCAA ATAR-eligible pathway, with many also undertaking Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications to contribute to their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Our senior offerings include a range of 37 subjects across QCAA, VET and TAFE pathways, equipping students with skills, knowledge and credentials to support their aspirations beyond school. Inclusive Education: Diverse Learners, Holistic Growth John Paul College is committed to inclusive, holistic and culturally responsive education. Our Diverse Learning Program supports students with a wide range of abilities, enabling them to achieve their academic potential while growing as individuals. Specialist teachers collaborate with classroom educators to promote differentiated and inclusive teaching practices, supported by regular professional development. Dedicated programs and support teachers cater to gifted and talented learners, providing enrichment activities, extension opportunities and pathways for acceleration within a differentiated classroom setting. John Paul College has introduced the Accelerate Excel program as a key initiative to enhance student learning and performance through tailored academic support and enrichment. Designed to identify and nurture individual student potential, the program provides targeted interventions, extension opportunities and mentoring to help students achieve personal excellence. With a strong focus on data-informed practices, Accelerate Excel supports learners across various year levels by offering strategic, responsive instruction that aligns with their needs and aspirations. This initiative aims to raise academic outcomes and foster student confidence, motivation and a culture of high expectations, further embedding the College’s commitment to igniting excellence in all.

JOHN PAUL COLLEGE | ANNUAL REPORT | 2024 19 Digital Learning: Future-Ready Skills Technology is seamlessly integrated into our learning programs to foster research capability, creativity, logical and lateral thinking, and digital fluency, essential skills in today’s and tomorrow’s workforce. Students from Years 4 to 12 are issued a personal notebook computer, while Year 3 students use personal iPads, supported by a robust campus-wide wireless network. These devices are equipped with a wide range of educational software and digital resources, enabling learning at school and at home anytime, anywhere. In Kindergarten to Year 2, shared classroom devices provide age-appropriate access to technology that supports foundational learning. Underpinning this digital ecosystem is a comprehensive cyber security framework designed to safeguard students’ personal information, protect learning systems from digital threats and ensure safe online engagement. The College regularly updates its security protocols and provides ongoing cyber safety education for students and staff to promote responsible and secure technology use.

Satisfaction Data In 2024, John Paul College engaged MMG Education to conduct an independent satisfaction survey of parents and students in Years 6, 9 and 12. The survey received a 41% response rate from parents and an impressive 88% response rate from students, providing a robust snapshot of community sentiment. Overall, parent satisfaction remained strong, with an average score of 79%, consistent with the results from the 2020 and 2022 surveys. Key focus areas such as Overall Satisfaction, Academic Program and College Reputation all received similarly high scores of 78–79%, reinforcing confidence in the College’s direction and performance. MMG highlighted that 89% of parents felt their expectations were met or exceeded, a particularly noteworthy result that underscores the College’s commitment to delivering a high-quality and wellrounded educational experience. We value the active role that parents, alumni and supporters play in shaping the educational experience and College culture. Our annual calendar has celebratory, informative and collaborative events that foster connection and community spirit. Awards ceremonies, including the prestigious Speech Night, honour student excellence and achievement, and are enthusiastically attended by families. Signature community occasions such as Mayfair, Grandparents’ Day, and end-of-year celebrations, including Valedictory events, offer meaningful opportunities for families to come together in support of their children and the wider school community. Parents are warmly invited to engage in their child’s learning journey through a wide array of events and initiatives. Through the HALT process, academic staff have received recognition as Highly Accomplished or Lead Teachers. Currently, JPC has 5 Highly Accomplished and 6 Lead Teachers on staff. We are incredibly proud of their resilience, determination, and focus, contributing to their remarkable achievements in the fifth year of the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). Their hard work and perseverance have set them up for continued success. We are delighted to that 100% of students achieved a Queensland Certificate of Education. This is a wonderful reflection on our students and our Academic Management Program. ATAR Results We are immensely proud of our ATAR-eligible cohort for achieving an outstanding median ATAR of 89.60, with nearly half of our students attaining an ATAR above 90.00. 90% of the total Year 12 cohort in 2024 were ATAR-eligible. ATAR results are calculated by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and are treated as confidential. They are only released to each individual student who has the option to share their results with the College.

The results are from the Year 12 Completers Survey, which is conducted approximately six months after students completed Year 12. For more information about the survey visit the Next Step website www.qld.gov.au/nextstep. Regional and statewide reports will be available from October 2025. 72.5% response rate 108 out of 149 Year 12 completers from this school responded to the 2025 survey. Results may not be representative of all Year 12 completers at this school. In 2025, 94.4% of Year 12 completers from John Paul College (Daisy Hill) were engaged in education, training or employment in the year after they completed school. Of the 108 respondents, 86.1% continued in education and training. The most common study destination was bachelor degree. A further 8.3% transitioned directly into paid employment only.
