Boomerang Blessing 44 BOOMERANG BLESSING 45 A LEGACY STITCHED WITH LOVE INSIGHT With hearts full of reflection and gratitude, the John Paul College community gathered to farewell one of its most cherished and foundational structures – the Boomerang Building. Officially opened on 29 April 1984, this uniquely curved architectural gem has stood as a powerful symbol of innovation, creativity and community spirit since the College’s early days. The Boomerang was built by many hands – visionary architects, determined leaders and dedicated community members. It was brought to life by the educators who shaped generations of learners, and by the students who filled its classrooms with energy, ideas, music and art. From its beginnings as a hub for computing, economics and business studies, to its later evolution into a home for the visual and performing arts, the Boomerang has been a stage for countless stories. Following a heartfelt and reverent prayer led by Mrs Lois Porthill and Mr Andy Gore, the College invited members of the community to leave their handprints on the walls of the Boomerang Building – a powerful and enduring gesture of blessing, remembrance and collective gratitude. Each imprint served as a symbol of the many hands that built, taught, learned and loved within its walls, weaving together past, present and future in a moment of shared reflection. Boomerang’s spirit lives on – in every hand that helped build it, and every heart it touched. 44 THE EAGLE 2025
