John Paul College is proud to announce the development of Burragunn, a state-of-the-art Secondary learning centre set to open in 2027. This innovative four-storey facility will replace the iconic Boomerang Building, which is named after the Yugambeh word for ‘boomerang’ – honouring the past while launching a new era of educational excellence.
The Burragunn building will feature:
- 16 general learning spaces
- two expansive learning commons
- a hospitality kitchen
- a home economics kitchen
- two meeting areas
- a generous events space
- an outdoor amphitheatre.
Designed to foster creativity, collaboration and academic excellence, the centre will provide students with a dynamic, future-focused environment that supports both independent and group learning.
More than just a building, Burragunn reflects the College’s commitment to contemporary education, sustainability and cultural respect. Its design draws inspiration from the area's natural landscape and Indigenous heritage, ensuring it blends seamlessly into the campus while offering flexible, future-ready spaces.
As the College community eagerly anticipates this transformation, the legacy of the Boomerang Building will continue to inspire and shape the future of learning at JPC. Burragunn represents a bold investment in the next generation, where tradition meets innovation and every student is empowered to thrive.
