Mr Benjamin O'Bree's association with John Paul College began in 2015 when his daughter Ava commenced Kindergarten, with son Levi also commencing his journey in Kindergarten in 2017. Ben's wife (Shona) and his sisters Kate and Emma are Alumni of the College, making John Paul College the preferred option for schooling. Shona was a member of the College’s highly regarded Horizons Basketball Program and captained the College’s first Women’s Basketball National Championship in 2002.

Ben is currently the Manager of Sports and Community Infrastructure at Logan City Council. In this role, Ben is responsible for strategic planning, design, capital delivery, maintenance, and lifecycle management of Logan’s sports and community infrastructure. Recent featured projects include the Queens Road Animal Management Centre, the construction of the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre, the Kingston Butter Factory, and the development of the Integrated Lifestyle Infrastructure Network Plan for the City. Ben brings 20 years of experience in the delivery of community, sport, road, and drainage infrastructure, as well as 10 years of experience in local disaster management coordination, including serving as an incident controller during flooding and cyclone events in recent years.

Ben strongly supports John Paul College's values of 'Mutual Respect, Compassion, Integrity and Excellence' and believes in the core message of Christian Ecumenism to unify people through better understanding and closer relationships.

Joining the Board in 2020, he deeply cares about the learning environment provided for all children and believes with continued sound strategic guidance from a diverse board; the College will continue to thrive and evolve. ​

Mrs Tracy Melenewycz was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in 2022.

Before joining the College community, Tracy and her husband Chris knew the College well. Chris had younger siblings who attended the College, and their association strengthened when their two children, Jake and Aria, joined John Paul College in 2022.

For the past 20 years, she has worked in the local government sector in various high-level positions within the City Planning and Sustainability division of Brisbane City Council. Tracy’s long and diverse career with Brisbane City Council spans the fields of operational and business management, project management, financial management, human resource management and corporate governance. Tracy’s extensive experience in developing strategic frameworks and overseeing the delivery of major capital works and environmental management has allowed her to take on the role of CEO of the Brisbane Sustainability Agency.

Tracy is passionate about ensuring that students have an enriched experience in their school years and are well prepared for their future. As a new parent to the College, Tracy offers a fresh perspective and passion for contributing to the reputation, future and prosperity of John Paul College.

Mr Andrew Reid is the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, and was elected to the Board as a Director in 2020. Andrew has been a parent at the College since 2017, when his two boys, Noah and Mitchell, commenced in the Primary School.

Andrew is the Chief Operations Officer at Modnpods Australia Pty Ltd, a modular housing manufacturer, as well as Chief Investment Officer for Arc31, a private family office, and manages a diverse portfolio of investment and business interests. He is also a Director of the Sparc Foundation, a private ancillary fund with an emphasis on supporting organisations that deliver services to improve health outcomes across Australian communities. Prior to this, Andrew held C-suite roles in Icon Group, leading and supporting the pharmacy business employing over 1000 team members delivering clinical and supply services in 60+ locations across Australia and Asia, predominantly in private and public hospital settings.

Ms Sonia Cahill was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in 2021 and currently serves as the Chair of the Governance Committee.

Her association with JPC began in 2011 as a kindergarten and primary parent while her family were based in Australia for 12 months between postings in China. Her three daughters returned to the College in 2015, with the first graduating in 2020 and the second in 2024. Her youngest is now in Year 10.

Sonia served on the Friends of Performing Arts Committee from 2016 to 2019, including terms as President and Treasurer. Her family have been involved in a variety of academic, cultural and sporting programs over the years, with their current co-curricular activities including choir, rock band, marching band, musical, wind orchestra and netball.

A communications and stakeholder engagement professional with more than 20 years’ experience, Sonia is also ​a director of the MacDiarmid Arts Trust, a charity she helped establish to preserve the legacy of an expatriate New Zealand artist.

Sonia is passionate about authentic stakeholder engagement, effective communication, reconciliation, diversity and inclusion, and mental health.​​

Mr Con Sotiris’ family has a long association with the College. Con is an Alumnus (2001), followed by his sisters, Theodora (2003), Paraskevie (2005) and brother George (2007).

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Con and his wife Helen decided to relocate their family to Daisy Hill. The couple’s children Valentina (Year 3), Theodore (Prep) and Marianna (ELC), love attending JPC and keenly participate in all the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities the College offers.

Con ​graduated from QUT in 2005 with a Bachelor of Information Technology. He worked in the IT sector for seven years before starting his own business consulting company. Con is currently co-owner of local business Databox Solutions offering cutting-edge solutions and the newest technology for communications and IT Services. Con manages a team of specialist technicians who support businesses across Australia and internationally.

Mrs. Ilham Sabry Ahamed was first appointed to the Board of Directors in 2019, serving until 2022. She was re-appointed in 2024 and is a member of the Audit & Risk Committee and the Governance Committee. Ilham has been a John Paul College parent since 2011 when her elder daughter Imaan, enrolled at the college. Her younger daughter Manaal is currently in Year 9 and is actively involved in various college activities.

Ilham brings extensive professional experience from senior finance roles within large multinational companies, including Ernst & Young and the Richemont Group. She has comprehensive experience in Assurance Services as a practicing auditor and consultant, as well as industry experience in the luxury goods, development financing, automobile, and manufacturing sectors. Her roles have spanned Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australia, providing her with insight into different education systems and the opportunity to interact with various cultures. Ilham has also served as a news anchor and program presenter on national television in Sri Lanka.

Ilham is a board member of Australian Parents Council and the principal consultant of AcumenPlus Consulting. She deeply values the three-way partnership that John Paul College fosters and appreciates the nurturing environment that allows students to excel in both academics and co-curricular pursuits.​

Since ELC, Richard and his wife Lingling have watched their son thrive within the JPC community. Freddie, now in year 6, remains actively engaged in school life and keenly represents JPC in various sporting events.

Richard brings three decades of senior management experience to the JPC Board, including executive leadership roles in national and international organisations. His extensive international experience includes nearly a decade posted in China, where he developed a deep cultural understanding that helps him connect with JPC's diverse parent community.

Currently lecturing part-time in risk management at Griffith University, Richard also contributes his governance expertise to two additional boards beyond JPC.

Richard is passionate about JPC's commitment to provide a learning environment that offers a broad range of opportunities that motivates and encourages students to learn.​

Ms Diana Masci was appointed to the John Paul College Board in 2025. As a parent and passionate advocate for quality education, Diana brings both professional expertise and personal connection to the College community. Her husband, Ryan Boulter, is a proud alumnus, and their eldest children began their secondary education at the College in 2023, with their youngest child joining in 2025. They value the opportunities and strong sense of community that John Paul College fosters.

Diana currently serves as Executive Director within the Department of Education, where she leads systemic priorities, enhances service delivery, and provides strategic support to schools. Her extensive career in education includes principalship, regional strategic planning, and contributions to statewide initiatives that have shaped education policy and practice across Queensland.

With a strong commitment to research-based, high-quality education and a belief in preparing young people for a balanced and successful future, Diana is excited to support the continued growth and sustainability of John Paul College in her role on the Board.​​​

Kate Stewart is a commercial lawyer and business leader with extensive experience across the banking, finance, insurance, aviation, defence, technology and government sectors. Her career has included senior executive roles in both the Queensland and Commonwealth Governments, leadership of nationally significant infrastructure projects, and advisory work on complex commercial and regulatory matters.

Kate is a Partner at Acuity Green an Australian law firm providing fractional general counsel, engagement, and commercial leadership to Australian organisations. Her role of Partner sees her providing strategic legal, governance and regulatory advice to Australian organisations. She is recognised for her expertise in technology, privacy, data governance and regulatory strategy.

A dedicated member of the John Paul College community for more than 20 years, Kate’s connection to the College began when her niece commenced Prep. She later chose JPC for her own children, who have thrived throughout their educational journey and are now in year 8 and year 11. As a local Daisy Hill resident, Kate has actively supported the College through volunteering at sporting events, special occasions, and community initiatives.

Beyond her professional career, Kate has contributed to a range of community and not-for-profit organisations including community legal services and has served as Chapter President and Non-Executive Director of the Association of Corporate Counsel Ltd.

She brings extensive expertise in governance, strategy, risk management and leadership, along with a strong commitment to supporting the continued success of John Paul College and its community.​​
