Learn more about traineeships at JPC

The JPC school-based traineeship positions allow high school students in Years Ten and Eleven to work at the College (one full day per week) as a trainee and gain a nationally recognised qualification within their chosen traineeship field.

Successfully appointed students will be required to work 375 hours per year or 7.5 hours per week to fulfil their trainee commitments.

A traineeship takes the place of one senior subject while also providing up to eight valuable credit points (upon completion) towards the student’s Queensland Certificate of Education and may, in some cases, be used as part of their ATAR calculation.

Students engaging in school-based traineeships must be independent learners who are motivated and have good time management and initiative as 100% of the qualification’s theory is delivered online and should be completed for homework or during private study lessons.

Successfully appointed trainees are paid whilst they learn workplace skills, gain confidence and adapt to their workplace environment. This allows students to practice their skills and implement what they have learnt from their theory modules.

John Paul College offers our Senior Students a unique one-day-a-week opportunity to work at the College while completing a Certificate III. These pathways are open for students that are following the Year 11 program and beyond. The Traineeship Opportunities include:
