Since 2005, Yalari has been transforming the lives of Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities across Australia by providing full boarding school scholarships for their entire secondary education.
Guided by the belief that education is the key to generational change, Yalari empowers young Indigenous Australians to shape a brighter future for themselves, their families and their communities. Through its comprehensive program of scholarships, student support and post-school pathways, Yalari continues to nurture future leaders who will enrich our nation.
John Paul College has been a proud Yalari partner since 2015, welcoming students from as far north as Thursday Island and as far west as the Northern Territory. Together, we share a deep commitment to creating opportunities, fostering cultural understanding, and developing young people who courageously contribute to society.
We are so proud to be part of John Paul College's growing Indigenous program which offers our students a unique mix of education and support, culture and empowerment. We are very grateful for the support JPC has shown not only to our children but to our organisation as a whole.

What was the best part about Yalari?
The best part about Yalari was definitely the people and connections it brought into my life. Having the opportunity to meet so many young Indigenous students/people, gave me the courage and motivation to pursue my goals and dreams.
As a Yalari graduate, I can confidently say that the people you meet and befriend at the Orientation Camp in Year Seven will be the same people by your side at graduation in Year Twelve, and that is something truly amazing.
What are you up to at the moment?
Right now, I am studying a double degree in Exercise Science and Business at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. I am also a mentor of AIME students at a local primary school.
What has the Yalari experience taught you?
The Yalari experience taught me countless lessons and gave me so much significant insight into a range of aspects of life.
An experience that had the greatest impact on me was the Yalari Year Nine Outback Camp. I learned that the world we live in is full of so many amazing opportunities and it's really up to us to choose how, when and where we take grasp of those opportunities and grow as individuals.
What advice do you have for current Yalari scholars?
'Every day is a new day, and you'll never be able to find happiness, opportunity or growth if you don't move on. I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start to a day that could provide magnificent things.' - Unknown.
JPC also uses the Humanitix event booking platform, where some of our booking fees are used to fund
Yalari scholarships.
