John Paul College Academic Excellence Scholarships recognise students who embody our commitment to Ignite Ambition through outstanding academic performance, intellectual curiosity and a dedication to continuous learning. These scholarships are designed to nurture high-achieving students who demonstrate exceptional potential, a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to contribute to the life of the College and the broader community.

Through the Academic Excellence​ Scholarship program, we seek to support and challenge scholars to pursue excellence in their studies while upholding the College's values of Mutual Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence.

Applicants for Academic Excellence Scholarships at John Paul College are required to sit the ACER Scholarship Examination.

The ACER Scholarship Examination is for current and future students who are applying for a 2027 scholarship and will be held on Saturday 28 February 2026 at the John Paul College campus.

ACER Scholarship Examination registrations and Academic Excellence Scholarship Applications for the 2027 intake are now closed.

Scholarship applicants should select the appropriate ACER Scholarship Examination Level when completing the ACER Scholarship online application.

Level 1: Designed for students who sit the test for entry into Years 7 and 8.

Level 2: Designed for students who sit the test for entry into Years 9, 10 and 11.

Examination Fees: Basic Registration $140.00.

In addition to the above requirements, eligibility for an Academic Excellence Scholarship will be conditional on the following outcomes:

  • students must be commencing/studying in Years 7 to 11;
  • have performed at a high level on the ACER scholarship exam;
  • have demonstrated above-average achievement in academics, providing NAPLAN tests and their last two years of school reports;
  • demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the curricular and co-curricular activities of the College, that is, participate in at least two co-curricular activities each year (reviewed annually); and 
  • demonstrate qualities compatible with the values and ethos of the College.

As a general rule, students will need to achieve a certain percentile level to receive a 50% remission (over 95th percentile) or for 25% remission (over 90th percentile).

Applicants are also required to provide a resume of achievements to accompany their application.
