Competitive gaming is a billion-dollar industry and is projected to grow exponentially over the next few years. The prevalence of Esports in schools is likewise rapidly expanding and with this in mind, JPC has launched a new Esports co-curricular activity.

In 2021, JPC entered its first-ever Esports team The Eagles, into the Premiere High School Esports League (HSEL) – just one of several leagues with over 1,500 member schools. Competing for the first time, Secondary School students Jake, Carl and Matthew, played in the XP Esports High School League Queensland Championships and came second out of 12 schools! The boys were awarded a trophy for their efforts.

On the back of their success in the HSEL, The Eagles took on the QUT Esports Day at Nissan Arena in October. Playing the popular game League of Legends against 20 other schools from across Queensland, our team came 2nd against Kelvin Grove State High School.

With their sites set high for the top spot, students are looking forward to expanding their skills in 2022 and continuing in the co-curricular team.
