The summer break has been a time of rest, relaxation and preparation for the new school year. Our Executive Leadership Team and staff are refreshed and excited to welcome our students and broader community to the new term. I am delighted with the way our continuing students and families eagerly embrace new members of the JPC community.
I look forward to welcoming our newest Alumni (2020) to share their future plans and collective wisdom with our current students as part of our Academic Honours Assembly. This important event acknowledges students who received an ATAR of 90.00 or higher. During the assembly, we will also induct our leaders of the Primary School. I am sure they will be listening keenly to the advice offered by our 2020 Alumni, many of whom started their leadership journey during in their Primary School years.
Our Performing Arts team is preparing for a busy year ahead. Alongside a full calendar of performances, the team are currently auditioning and rehearsing students for the 2021 College Musical – Chicago. If past College musicals are any measure, Chicago will be spectacular! Chicago will be performed at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre on 15, 16 and 17 July. Tickets will be available to purchase from the College website in the coming weeks.
I would also like to congratulate Mrs Julie Maroske and Mrs Emma McDonald who move into new roles commencing this year. Julie is our new Head of Sports and Activities. Julie is an Alumnus of the College who was a College Vice-Captain, Bradley Cup recipient and two-time Dickson Shield recipient. Julie is also a former elite basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball League.
Emma is our Deputy Head of Sports and Activities. Emma’s experience as a member of the World Champion Australian Opals in 2006 and Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medal-winning Opals, has forged a steely determination and disciplined approach to all she does. Julie and Emma are a dynamic duo whose deep connections to the College and expertise across all facets of the TAS, Club Sport, Representative Sport, Primary Sport, Secondary Sport, and the co-curricular activities place them well to realise the goals and aspirations detailed in the Sports Strategic Plan. Together, they will continue to provision and improve on the College’s extensive and broad co-curricular offering. The Sports Strategic Plan will be launched during Term One.
Thank you for sharing in our excitement for 2021!
