John Paul College Wins 5-Star Sustainable Program 2024

John Paul College (JPC) is thrilled to announce that its sustainability program has been awarded The Educator’s 5-Star Sustainable Programs for 2024. This award celebrates schools leading the charge in reducing emissions, protecting the environment and empowering students to embrace sustainable practices.

JPC’s commitment to sustainability includes key initiatives such as the Primary Sustainability Committee, where Year 6 leaders collaborate on environmental projects, and the integration of sustainability into Secondary School Wellbeing Programs. Additionally, the Garden to Plate program allows Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten students to grow vegetables and herbs for their kitchens, fostering early environmental responsibility.

Student and community engagement is central to JPC's sustainability efforts. Through hands-on projects like the Subpod composting system and Garden to Plate program, students actively learn to manage resources responsibly and understand their role as environmental stewards. These programs build a deep understanding of sustainability's long-term impact and empower students to embrace their responsibility to care for the planet.

With an evolving Sustainability Plan, regularly reviewed by the Board and Executive, JPC ensures its initiatives remain relevant and impactful, preparing students to positively influence the world around them.
