As we enter the final weeks of Term Four, we keep our Year Twelve students in our prayers and wish them every success in their external exams which continue until 17 November. These particular exams will be the first of the new ATAR system and the first external exams in Queensland schools for 40 years! The last month has seen several milestone events in the College calendar, albeit with a COVIDSafe caveat. The Year Eleven students enjoyed a 'Starry Night' themed Semi Formal at the College; whilst our Year Twelves stepped out in style to enjoy their Formal at Brisbane City Hall. Each event was thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike. The College's annual Speech Night – A Celebration of Excellence, was held at QPAC and provided a sparkling and distinguished evening that honoured our students' academic, cultural and sporting excellence for 2020. Our guest speaker was Alumnus Georgia Ridler (1992) who spoke with passion about the importance of resilience, now more than ever. On the sporting field, our students have represented themselves and the College admirably in the Vicki Wilson Cup and Shield, the Queensland All School State Athletics Championships and the Champion Basketball School of Queensland Junior Secondary Tournament. Their passion, perseverance and spirit are commendable. We look forward to marking the end of the College year with our Year Twelve students with their Valedictory events. There will be a service at St John's Anglican Cathedral on the evening of 19 November, followed by a family breakfast and the Valedictory Assembly on 20 November. We are so proud of our Year Twelves and all they have given and achieved during their time at JPC.  I leave you with this quote, which reminds us that resilience and perseverance are the foundations for success. At JPC, we are steadfast in our resolve to walk alongside our students to encourage and support them on their journey as lifelong learners. 'Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.' - Nelson Mandela.
