STEM is a foundation, not a destination
Many of these future jobs don’t currently exist. While technology is replacing jobs, it is also creating many new ones. When today’s senior school students were at primary school, there were still people employed as toll collectors on our nation’s motorways! Now many of these students are learning skills in robotics, coding, social media marketing, app development and big data analytics.
Mark McCrindle, Social Researcher and Futurist (https://markmccrindle.com/)
Mark McCrindle is often described as a futurist – a person who studies the future and makes predictions about it based on current trends. Although we may not be certain which jobs will feature in our children’s future, the one thing that is consistently mentioned in the reporting is the importance of STEM. STEM themes are embedded in the curriculum in all year levels, with John Paul College offering expert teaching in both core and elective subjects.

These subject offerings will help to provide a solid, some might say future proof, the foundation for your child.
During August we welcomed many of you to the College’s virtual Open Day. Whilst this was an informative and useful way to circumnavigate the current COVID restrictions, nothing can replace meeting people in person and exploring our beautiful grounds. I look forward to welcoming you back on campus soon.
