At JPC, we believe the early years of schooling are the most important in shaping a child's love of learning, confidence and curiosity. Our Junior Primary programs are built on the globally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP, which fosters inquiry, creativity and a deep understanding of the world.

From Prep through Year 2, students at JPC are immersed in age-appropriate pedagogies that build essential literacy and numeracy skills. From First Steps to Confident Learners
Prep
Prep at JPC nurtures curiosity and love of learning by building strong foundations through the IB PYP Programme. Our beautiful purpose-built playgrounds support children’s physical, social and emotional development through imaginative and creative play.

Year 1 builds on Prep foundations, encouraging independence and deeper inquiry. A highlight is the
Sharing the Planet unit, where students explore Australian habitats through a cross-curricular design project, culminating in the Year 1 Animal Expo.

Year 2
Year 2 builds confident, curious learners through the IB PYP Programme. Students explore transdisciplinary themes and engage in hands-on investigations to develop scientific thinking and strengthen creativity, collaboration and global-mindedness.

Beyond the Classroom: Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Opportunities
Our Junior Primary students enjoy a vibrant range of programs that build physical development, creativity and teamwork:

Performing Arts: Students can join the Choir or explore Cheer and Dance Programs, building confidence and coordination while participating in school events and competitions.

Sports and Activities: Starting from Prep, our Junior Development Sports Programs include basketball, AFL, rugby, hockey, cricket and netball, alongside partner programs in swimming, football and tennis.
