Named in honour of former Principal Mrs Karen Spiller OAM CF, the Karen Spiller Leadership Scholarship celebrates students who demonstrate integrity, initiative and a genuine commitment to serving others. This scholarship recognises young leaders who inspire their peers, contribute positively to their communities and show the potential to make a lasting impact at John Paul College and beyond. It reflects our belief that leadership is not defined by position, but by the courage to act with purpose and compassion, qualities at the heart of the College's values of Mutual Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence.
Eligibility and Application Details
Applications for the Karen Spiller Leadership Scholarship are open to new families only, with children currently in Year 6 who have demonstrated outstanding leadership potential within their school, sporting, or community setting. Successful candidates will be students who:
- Exhibit excellence through leadership and a commitment to service
- Are eager to engage fully in the life of John Paul College
- Embody the College ethos and values in their interactions with others
- Demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the curricular and co-curricular activities of the College, that is, participate in at least two co-curricular activities each year (reviewed annually).
Applicants are required to submit:
- A personal résumé outlining leadership roles and achievements, supported by evidence
- Copies of their two most recent school reports and Year 5 NAPLAN results
- A reference from a teacher or coach highlighting their leadership capability and potential.
All applications will be means-tested and awarded at the Principal's discretion.
